Power Factor is the relationship of KW to KVA (PF = KW / KVA). Also described as the cosine of the angle between KW and KVA in the "Power Triangle" (Cos θ = KW / KVA). The difference between a power system with a PF = 1 and every other power system is the addition of Reactive Power. It is the Reactive power required by inductive loads that causes poor power factor.
