Gale Hawthorne  An 18-year-old who is Katniss's best friend and hunting partner. Like Katniss, he has dark hair and gray eyes. His father died in the same explosion that killed Katniss's father. The pair have combined their respective talents, his at trapping and hers at archery, to become an effective team.

Gale is a member of District 12 and Katniss's closest friend and hunting partner. Like Katniss, Gale is the main provider of his family, as his father has died. He's a tough, strong, and practical boy with a deep sense of loyalty toward his family and friends.
